If you are looking for a holiday cottage in the Lake District, we are ideally situated. Many people talk about how beautiful the Lake District is. If you've never been here, it's something that you should experience. If you have been here before, it's quite likely that you'll want to come back.

It's one of the most beautiful places in the UK, with the deepest lakes, the highest mountains, and so many breathtakingly beautiful views constantly changing with the seasons and the weather.

Windermere from Fairfield Horseshoe

Windermere is the largest lake in the Lake District and is the largest in England at approximately 10.5 miles long and 1 mile wide. As well as being the largest of the lakes, Windermere is also the most well known and has long been a very popular attraction for tourists. There is the opportunity to enjoy water sports or just to relax and take in all the beauty.

Ullswater Steamer

Ullswater is the second largest of all the lakes in the Lake District at approximately 9 miles long and ¾ of a mile wide. Regarded by many as the most beautiful of all the lakes, Ullswater often finds itself compared to lakes in Switzerland, such as Lucerne. This favourable comparison is thanks to the beautiful scenery with mountains to one side and green fields and woodland on the other. You could take one of the relaxing steamer boats on a cruise of the lake or explore the large number of footpaths on low or high level walks. Picture courtesy of Ian Britton Freefoto.com

Wastwater

There are many more lakes to visit, some with towns nearby such as Derwentwater with Keswick nestling on its shores and others that are quieter such as Waswater with its steep scree slopes. But, holidaying here is not just about the scenery; the Lake District stands out above many summer vacation options in the UK because of its wealth of history, cuisine, leisure and art. From the young to the old, just about anyone will find their favourite spot in this rural idyll of North West England.
